As I was cleaning out my basement this summer and getting rid of old useless items, I came across a foreign object at the bottom of a box. I dusted the object off as if it were some type of buried treasure, after removing the layers of dust, four distinct buttons became visible, “X, Square, Circle, Triangle.” Ahhh the Playstation Portable, the device that was going to bring all age groups into the hand held gaming industry, the device that promised so much but delivered so little. I sat back for a second and turned on this seemingly worthless device and started to recall playing mediocre games such as NBA Live, COD: Heros, and Luminies.

I started wondering how much I could sell the PSP and UMDs (aka worst media storage devices ever) on Ebay for. After doing a little research I concluded that the PSP was going to get me somewhere between $80-$100 if I was lucky. So I decided to Google some PSP terms and see if I could sell it somewhere else for a set price. While researching I came across an ad for a site named PSP Blender. I clicked on the link after reading in the description about being able to play ANY game. Now I’m a huge Xbox fanboy and started visualizing halo playing on my PSP. So I get to the website and unfortunately no Halo but the website had so much to offer. I started reading through what the site was offering and found I could download games, music, movies, wallpapers, and all these other extras. I decided to pay the one time fee and see what it was all about since there was a money back guarantee. After spending hours of looking through their material I was very impressed and started getting that excited feeling I felt the first time I opened the box of this promising handheld.

I can now proudly say that I ended up holding on to this Sony handheld and that I actually enjoy carrying it around with me. I’m not saying that PSP Blender is the savior for Sony but it is fair to say that buying Blender is a WAY better investment than buying any of the games Sony has on the market these days. It is also reasonable to pass on selling this handheld on ebay and instead try to have a little fun with it until you get a dead pixel. As the Nintendo DS continues to wipe the floor with the PSP, sites such as PSP Blender are helping close the gap in the handheld war and are starting to help revive and bring promise back to a handheld that died faster than its GTA load times.
