Forget what you know about Ace Attorney, Ghost Trick is fresh, engrossing and logical. Only a few video games I know of open like Ghost Trick: It cannot get more straightforward: We see the protagonist Sissel – lying face down and motionless in a dingy junkyard, his arse raised Johnny Sasaki style like an antenna to the heavens. The evening is still early and he has been shot.

The story which is in a typical Shu Takami fashion, no doubt about that, begins with an open-ended mystery that leaves you asking a number of questions. As the game proceeds, few questions are answered and even more come up in the early stages, but the pacing of the mystery is amazing; with every chapter that you complete, you’ll be left scratching your head or picking your jaw up off the floor. Thi m akes you keep playing, because you want to get answers to your questions.
Armed with the powers of the dead, he must solve the mystery behind his murder and the characters surrounding it, including a young woman named Lynne, the imprisoned Detective Jowd—who she is trying to save from execution, a breakdancing Inspector Cabanela and a score of strange assassins out to kill everyone involved. If that’s not a lot to take on when you’ve just been killed, there’s also an overlaying mystery involving the Special Detective Agency responsible for investigating Sissel’s death and the country’s national security defense at stake.
The best reason to play Ghost Trick is for the amazing animation. The 2D sprites move more fluidly than even some cartoons and it’s a joy to simply watch characters dance around onscreen. It’s probably the most impressive animation I’ve ever seen in a video game.
This game is top notch and I have to mention that the Animation is almost perfect. I have to emphasize this once again. It makes the characters very charismatic and the story even more believable. There is a good balance of difficulty. With many puzzles they throw at you small hints, not obvious enough to spoil the fun and obvious enough to push your thinking-machine. The humor also surprised me in this game, it made me smile and giggle. And believe me, it is not easy ot make me giggle. I recommend this game to anyone who like puzzle games and/or liked the Phoenix Wright serie. Yes it’s a 10 point, 9 wouldn’t be enough. You can now download Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective. Sonic Colors DS is the best Sonic game released this year. Easily!
I have to be honest, I wasn’t keen on playing Sonic Colors DS, since I was really disappointed with Sonic Rush and its sequel, but I bought up anyway, since I was amazed by the NintendoWii version.
So I played it for a while, and all I can say is, “YES, Sonic is back”.!

The game play is so fluid and fast, yet I did not experience any lag while playing, unlike Sonic Rush. Also the music is great. It definitely brings back feelings of the old Genesis games. However, it is still staying new and fresh. S
After more than a decade of mediocre or downright bad Sonic games, 2010 is proving to be the turning point for Sega’s little blue hedgehog. Sonic 4 started the trend, and Sonic Colors continues it, giving portable players one of Sonic’s best adventures yet.
Sonic Colors Plot
An extraordinary amusement park has been seen orbiting around the home planet of Sonic the Hedgehog, and rumors are spreading that an alien race of Wisps, who have a unique colorful energy, are being held captive there by the evil Dr. Eggman. Soon after arriving at the amusement park, Sonic discovers he is able to use these mysterious alien forces to help the Wisps escape!
As mentioned before, Sonic Colors DS plays and looks a lot like the classic Genesis games. It’s a fast, 2D platformer where you blaze through levels collecting rings and other items in a mad dash to reach the end. Sonic Colors follows a formula, but it never feels repetitive thanks to wonderfully inventive level design. You’re constantly encountering new, often one-time-only mechanics.
Sonic Colors Level Design
Well, the level design is indeed a bit chaotic and to make it even more chaotic, Sonic Colors adds in special powers. But do not get me wrong, this is positvie and a lot of fun. Sonic “earns” new colors for every world he unlocks. He has to save poor little aliens called “Wisps” from Dr. Eggman.
Every Wisp color gives Sonic a new power. E.g. he can transform into a rocket or a laser.
Levels are designed with these powers in mind, this makes the game really fast as you dicover the world in different forms because of the transformations.
This leads to dramatic changes of pace, and adds a lot of replayability, as players can take newly unlocked powers into older acts to find previously inaccessible areas. I have to admit, that’s pretty cool.
The game’s special Stages are well worth checking out. By using the touch screen, these levels hark back to Sonic 2‘s classic bonus stages, as you drag Sonic around a tubular track in order to collect colored orbs. It’s pretty simple, but that doesn’t stop it being fun, and it also features some amazing background music.
You should note that Sonic Colors can be completed without having to make use of most of the Wisps. Neverthelss the game is much more fun, and you can score a lot more points (the points are needed, because the game’s post-level grading system is horribly strict!). The levels built around the Yellow Wisp’s drill power are especially great, and many of the gimmicks and routes in each stage treat the Wisps as a far more integrated part of the game, unlike the Wii version where they appear tossed in as a throwaway gimmick.

Graphically the game’s greatest asset is its pace, which is absolutely unrelenting: there’s never a trace of slowdown in the regular stages, and the 3D bosses hog the whole screen to lend a palpable trace of menace. The rainbow effect that accompanies the boost is pleasing, and the transformations all look the part,
Sonic Colors Has More To Offer
Sonic Colors has more to offer once you get bored with the standard acts and boss battles. You will find bjective based challenge levels, but you can also play collect-a-thon missions or partake in competitive multiplayer mode. While the special missions and challenge levels are fun interruptions to the main game, Sonic Colors multiplayer is also surprisingly fun, as you and a friend compete to see who can reach the end of a level faster.
The multi-card multiplayer modes for two players face off against each other and a CPU race mode is included for solo players, but this predictably fails to captivate in the same way as racing a human opponent. Unlike its Wii counterpart, there’s no cooperative mode here, just flat-out racing, which is a little disappointing..
A few of Sonic’s console abilities are ported over to this game, with mixed results. The homing attack e.g. returns. Homing attacks always hit their mark, and there’s no lag or risk of causing an accidental death by daring the follow the game’s directions. The power to jump from wall to wall is also quite good, albeit a little sluggish, but pressing the R button to slide through narrow gaps could have done with being scrapped.
Cons
Mainly Sonic Colors is a great game, however, I had some problems with the difficulty. At several points players can expect to encounter spots where they’ll be killed outright if they don’t to the job perfectly. I have to admint, this is frustrating. Why? Because by losing your limited number of lives you’ll have to start a level over at the very beginning.
Conclusion
Sonic Colours is truly a highlight of recent DS releases, and a much-demanded return of Sonic. The quick-fire nature means it’s perfect for its hand-held platform. If you’re only going to pick up one Sonic title this year, Sonic Colours DS is definitely your best bet.
Sonic Colors is undoubtedly the best Sonic game for DS that I have ever played. If you’ve never been into Sonic, then Colors certainly won’t change your mind, and the difficulty spikes and poor continue system will undoubtedly fluster many, but the ride is worth it. If you asked me one year ago I would have told you that Sonic game would never be good again, however, I changed my mind. I’m ready to believe again. Welcome back, Sonic! I really, really missed you.
